Soldering is the most dangerous thing I could learn. Not because of the risk of fire or injury, but because of the risk to my project queue

If we're talking *solo* solo, this is a great piece by Don Ross. Matt introduced me to him when I introduced him to metal; as you'll hear we met in the middle

Man, that's tempting. Thankfully I have other gadgets I want more, but it's going to stick in my brain until I cave or something cheaper comes out.

Re: What's, in your opinion, the best guitar solo of all time?

Caught Springsteen and the E Street Band last night. Whole show was amazing, but the real standout solo was Tom Morello at the end of The Ghost of Tom Joad. Here's a video from the Minneapolis show on the tour

Controllers

Much as we all love the standard gamepad, there's tons more controller styles out there, and people continue to make new ones. This thread is for discussing non-standard game controllers. Inspired by this one, a new knob controller for the Genesis:

And now the Kickstarter is up: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jellyphone/titan-2-elite-the-5g-keyboard-phone-youve-been-waiting-for

Hopefully it'll work for AT&T out the gate. They've said the Titan 2 does (I don't have AT&T so I can't verify this) and that they're working on certification ...

Re: Wii - a stolen design, ad campaign, and legacy?

Maybe "unsatisfying" was the wrong word. It would have been better to say it was a anti-climactic. I was hoping to get some technical analysis on how the two systems work, and I didn't. As friendly as their marketing and games are, Nintendo is absolutely ruthless as a company, so I'm not going to ...

Re: Wii - a stolen design, ad campaign, and legacy?

Kind of an unsatisfying watch. Neat to learn about this company I hadn't previously heard of, but the crux of the legal question, whether Nintendo violated XaviX's patents or used another technology for motion detection in the Wiimote, isn't answered, and we don't even get a gesture at an answer. I ...

At 4:50, Perttu decides he wants more range than the fingerboard gives him, and just goes higher. Then at 5:10 he grabs and pulls the string he's playing off to the side, something I'd never seen a cellist do before.

As an aside, the band didn't realize ...

Added a couple old prototypes to my itch page. I'm not going to develop them further, but I figure they won't do any good collecting dust on my hard drive, and hey, maybe they'll inspire someone else down the line.

And if I can cheat a bit here, Clarence Clemons' sax solo in Jungleland is another all timer. Listened to a (then) recent performance when I got news that he'd passed and it destroyed me.

That one's an all-timer for sure! Great solo, great performance! Here are some songs with guitar solos I love, all of which sell the emotions of the song. Gonna limit myself to one per band, and only live performances

Re: Titan Elite 2

I think that reviewer issue is kind of intrinsic to phones. Most people have the same phone for the length of a contract (2-3 years) baring loss or destruction of the device before that. And I'd wager most people who aren't on cadence like that keep their phones even longer (I'm in this cohort ...
